What to Wear Wednesday

So the title of the post says “Wednesday” and today is Tuesday, but we’re planning for tomorrow, so don’t stress. We’ve got a great activity lined up for you and the perfect top to wear.

Truluv sporty tank in multi

This tank top is by Sachi favorite TruLuv. It has a cute digital pattern with a lightweight, silky feel and raw chiffon trim. Pair it perfectly with skinnies (any color), white shorts, or cropped leggings. Grab some colorful sandals and an Emi-Jay to finish off the look.

Now that your outfit is all set, get out your agenda and pencil in “Brooks Museum” from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for tomorrow. It’s time for Wacky Wednesday at the Brooks! This summer, they’re featuring a very cool exhibit called “The Art of Video Games.” In addition to checking out the exhibit, you’ll be able to watch movies in the auditorium or stop by the studio to make your own art. Wacky Wednesday finishes just in time for lunch at the Brushmark or a picnic at Overton Park. Can’t make it tomorrow? You’re in luck, because this event will be recurring weekly through June and July.

Fringe and fun from Flowers by Zoe

Rainbow tie-dye fringed tank top and neon pink leggings from Flowers by Zoe. Coordinating tassel bracelet by Bari Lynn Accessories and tie-dyed hair ties from Maddyloo. It’s bright, it’s trendy, it’s HAPPY. I want to wear this everywhere! Too bad I’m “old” – leaves more sizes for you! Call the store or stop by to get yours today.

Movie Time: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Ok, gals. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to set up a movie date with “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” It’s classy and a little heart-wrenching, but we’re sure you’ll love it as much as we do. After all, Audrey Hepburn + cat named Cat + fashion all over = feature film fave. So grab some croissants, a couple of friends, your choice of yummy beverage (frothy hot chocolate, anyone? ok, we’ll settle for a frappuccino if it’s afternoon), and enjoy.

And once you’ve memorized all the words to “Moon River,” it will be time for a shopping trip. Plenty of fashionable ladies have been inspired by this classic film and you can be too! Some go for directly copying Audrey’s on-screen looks, but we prefer to capture the essence while adding some youthful updates. Below, we’ve paired an adorable pleated Ella Moss tank with a Flowers by Zoe lace skirt, using fashion’s most timeless palette: black and white. Every girl needs a little sparkle (even if it’s not from Tiffany’s), so we’ve added some black and pink bangles by Bari Lynn. Our heeled Nina sandals will have you standing tall while this handy and classic Vera Bradley cross-body will help keep you all together.  Put your hair in a topknot, grab your best big shades and head out on the town!

Fit to be tie-dyed

Tie-dyed outfit from Flowers by Zoe with Havaianas and aviator shades

Get psychedelic this summer with cool tie-dyed/marble-dyed wardrobe pieces. This funky swirly tank from Flowers by Zoe is a soft knit with criss-cross straps in the back. While you could obvs pair this tank with your white jeans or fave denim cutoffs, we’ve paired it here with purple tie-front knit shorts also from Flowers by Zoe. Staying on theme, we suggest sliding on these tie-dye print Havaianas. Pull your hair up into a high pony to keep your hair off the tank’s cute strap feature (and your neck – Memphis can get super hot in the summer). Top it off with a twist on classic aviators: lime green with mirrored lenses. Now you’re all set to be one groovy girl. Have fun!

A floral tank by Truluv: ways to wear

This floral tank top from Truluv is too cute to wear only one way. It has criss-cross spaghetti straps and a swing cut. The print has a wide range of colors: blue, mint, burnt orange, taupe, mauve, and black. We’ve given you three options for how to wear it, but we know you’ll find more. Pair it over a lace-trimmed tank with denim skinnies for a relaxed but feminine look. This lacy tank from Daisy Jayne is available in cream and navy as well as taupe. Thanks to the wide variety of colors in the top, you have plenty of bottom options. We’ve shown it here with two colorways of knit short from Tea Collection: navy and dark teal. Whether playing in the park or bumming with a book, you’ll be comfy and stylish in this top, however you pair it.

Some Things Never Change

Mimi & Maggie chambray top, Tea Collection denim-look knit shorts and TOMS Paseos in natural burlap

Whether playing on the beach or in a field, you’ll be very cute in this outfit inspired by American traditions like cotton and denim. Easy knit shorts in a denim-look from Tea Collection pair perfectly with this breezy woven top from Mimi & Maggie. The cream embroidery at the neckline is just the right girly touch without going overboard. Try Toms’ lace-up paseo shoes in natural burlap as a cute tennis shoe alternative. They stay on your feet, and you can wear them with or without socks. Finish the look with double french braids. Photo op: weave thin ribbons or small flowers into your braids if sitting for a portrait.

Imagine how much cooler you’ll be this summer:

Sporty floral tank and knit shorts from Ragdoll & Rockets with Mogo sunglasses, Vera Bradley sunglasses case and pink Havaianas

This summer, take your sporty style to a whole new level. While your buds may be wearing plain old tees with shorts leftover from soccer season, you’ll be rocking this layered ensemble from Ragdoll & Rockets. The cute purple floral tank is mesh on the outer layer, so you won’t overheat while pedaling your bike to the park. These comfy knit shorts in grey are just right for your active lifestyle. Since you’re on the go so much, protect your eyes with shades and charms from MOGO. Protect your shades with a Vera Bradley sunglasses case. Last, but not least, ditch last year’s flips for these pretty pink Havaianas – they have an ankle strap so they’ll stay on while you run around with your friends.
